MARY FRANZ, Copywriter

 

With an inquisitive mind, deep sense of empathy and ability to truly listen and connect with all types of people, Mary frequently finds herself lost in conversation with perfect strangers. 

 So, it’s only natural that she serves as Approach’s chief copywriter, crafting authentic stories on her clients’ behalf—from internal communications to executive bios to thought leadership articles for publications such as Forbes. Mary has worked closely with leadership teams to develop strategic communications that engage key stakeholder groups and increase visibility and credibility. Through the years, she's supported start-ups, Fortune 500 companies and non-profits across industries such as healthcare, technology, education and retail.  

Before moving into consulting, Mary worked hand-in-hand with state departments of education, school districts and education-focused groups to implement new educational-improvement initiatives. She’s proud to have spearheaded a multi-year campaign to help Tulsa Public Schools recruit more than 500 educators to the district. Receiving the "Award of Excellence" from the Oklahoma School Public Relations Association, Mary was invited to speak at the National School Public Relations Association's National Seminar. 

Mary jumpstarted her career in a marketing role with Nordstrom, planning events across 15 Midwestern markets to promote the company's designer brands, including Chanel, Gucci and Burberry. She was delighted to receive the "All-Star" award, one of the company's highest honors. 

And after obtaining a degree in communication from the University of Missouri, Mary served as a contributing writer for St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles magazine.
