MY APPROACH TO DELIGHTING CLIENTS is to start by listening. If I understand the business goals of senior leadership, I can recommend communications strategy that aligns audience action with the desired end-result.

MEGAN SHROY, Founder + President

Megan Shroy is the founder and president of Approach.

In 2010, Megan identified a demand in the industry: Despite the economic downturn, clients still needed access to outsourced public relations and communications but could no longer afford the “big agency” overhead. At the same time, Megan watched her peers walk away from global firms to gain more work-life balance as they grew their families.

Megan realized by offering flexibility to the industry’s top talent, she could compete with the country’s leading agencies. Thus, the Approach concept was born—a fully virtual team of senior-level specialists providing best-in-class service to its clients.

Under Megan’s leadership, Approach was shortlisted for Outstanding Boutique Agency of the Year by PRWeek, recognized by O’Dwyer’s as a Top-100 Independent PR Agency and included in the Top-5 Fast Moving U.S. Agencies by PRovoke Media.

At Approach, Megan leads new business development efforts, helping guide strategy for the agency’s growing account mix. She has worked on account teams for some of the most established global brands, including McDonald’s, JP Morgan Chase, General Mills and Make-A-Wish.

Approach’s non-traditional business model has received national attention. When it comes to the virtual agency and managing a remote team, Megan is recognized as a thought leader—featured in publications such as Forbes, Inc., USA Today, Entrepreneur, PRWeek and PR News, among others.

Prior to establishing Approach, Megan worked for Golin in Chicago and Columbus-based Paul Werth Associates. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a double minor in Journalism and Business Management from Wittenberg University.

Stands out among industry peers. She was named a Forty Under 40 honoree by Columbus Business First and included in Top Women in PR by PR News.

Rejects the idea that great work has to be done under one roof. When we launched in 2010, Approach’s virtual model was one of the first of its kind.

Believes in the power of relationships. Megan forms long-term partnerships with her clients…because if there is one thing she cares more about than the work, it’s the people.

Built her career in media relations. Placements include TODAY, FOX & Friends, CNN, Forbes, Inc., USA Today, UsWeekly and The Wall Street Journal.
